I've come to the conclusion that any large project will have a group of naysayers who have nothing but their own short-sighted selfish interest in mind. They will poo-poo anything new no matter the cost.

This group is still badmouthing the system even though it's bought & paid for and everyone will benefit (including them) many times over if it succeeds. Badmouthing it in unproductive ways only hurts the same pocketbooks they say they care about.

So basically, if a city has a need (like high population density and many hours of bumper-to-bumper traffic on major roads & highways) and a workable, well-planned way to solve it (like building a peoplemover to connect those dense areas) then naysayers should be ignored unless they have something constructive to say.

I keep reminding people that New York's subway system was considered a novel amusement, and even the designer's "folly," but that investment in infrastructure pays off. Where would America be without the Interstates? Where would New York be without its subway? A viable car alternative gives citizens leverage. They can spend hundreds of dollars a month on something besides a car, and they can do something with their commute time other than paying attention to the road. Major events can be held downtown without concern for nearby services and rental car availability. The list goes on and on.

I have found that their are Transit zealots that will cheer any transit project - no matter the cost - unless of course all of the costs are passed onto the tranist riders. Then they will howl how that is "unfair" - or in the case of Henry Ryto, he will try to point to some Federal regulation as if that makes the unjustice of those that advocate for the service not be required to pay for what they demand - somehow okay.

It does not.

"Zyphlar" I have also found that many Transit Zealots are individuals who have nothing but their own short-sighted selfish interest in mind.

There are many sides to this discussion.

It would be honorable for those that attack others or call those that offer different viewpoints "nay sayers"

I do.

Since my name was used here I would like to point out that I have never said that no one rides the buses in Seattle.

In fact, when I have traveled to Seattle, I also rode the buses there.
